Dr. Dewey attended Rice University where she received a Bachelor in Psychology, Anthropology and French Literature. She obtained her Masters at The University of Houston where she graduated with top honors. She is a member of the honor society Phi Kappa Phi. She also attended the PhD program in Clinical Social Work at Smith College in Northampton MA were she was President of her graduating class. Dr. Dewey is a Doctor in Clinical Social Work and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

She trained at the Psychoanalytic Center in Houston Texas completing a two-year Fellowship in Psychoanalytic studies.

Dr. Dewey is fluent in Spanish having been born and raised in Lima Perú. She is also fluent in French and Italian.

Dr. Dewey obtained her clinical experience working at the Children’s Assessment Center where she treated children who were sexually abused and at El Centro de Corazón where she treated members of the Hispanic population presenting with a myriad of psychological problems. Dr. Dewey also practiced at the Montrose Center where she dealt with the issues facing the LGBTQ population in Texas. These included dealing with a diagnosis of HIV, gender related questions, and the family and societal pressures surrounding this population. Dr. Dewey led groups for the treatment of depression, anxiety and LGBT issues while at the Montrose Center.

Dr. Dewey has experience treating Depression, Anxiety, Personality disorders, PTSD, Trauma, and Bipolar disorder. She also helps elders who are having difficulty accepting the challenges and difficulties of the aging process. Dr. Dewey also treats couples that are going through difficulties communicating, issues surrounding divorce, reconciliation, and other situations affecting relationships.

Besides her psychodynamic focus Dr. Dewey utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Attachment theory, Mentalization and Family therapy among her modalities.

Dr. Dewey starts by developing the therapeutic relationship and treats every client with the greatest compassion, respect, empathy and confidentiality.
